As many of you will be aware from the 28th November the UK Government along with many others around the world have introduced new emergency travel restrictions.

These new travel restrictions require that all international arrivals into the UK now carry out a UK arrivals day 2 PCR test and self isolate until a negative test result has been obtained.

Following extensive discussions with the UCI, Event officials and Key partners we can now offer the following statement regarding the Championships.

The Organisation of the 2021 World Masters Cyclo-Cross Championships is now able to confirm that the event will continue to take place as planned according to the full requirements of a UCI World Championships event. We fully appreciate that due to the new Emergency Covid 19 Travel Restrictions that many of our competitors will unfortunately not now be able to attend. We are truly sorry for this situation and it is heartbreaking for us knowing all the hard work that riders have put in to be ready for the event.

The decision to continue despite the challenges to International travel has been a very carefully considered one, but one that we are confident is correct. Many International riders are already now in the UK and others have gone to considerable effort and expense to make the start line.

With the addition of the large number of UK Riders travelling to Suffolk to not going ahead would be a poor choice. There is no option to postpone the event due to logistics and the uncertainty of the future situation, and after 2 years of cancellations, it is important for the sport to continue in the best possible way we can even if this is not ideal or how we would like it to be.

We would like to thank all our participants for their understanding and cooperation. We hope that those riders that cannot make it this year will be able to join us next year where we hopefully can welcome you back for the 2022 Championships.

Please note it is likely there will be some changes to the event programme and it is important to check the competition guide for the latest updates – A new version will be posted on 01/12/21

For International Travellers who are still attending please follow the guidance provided on our event website where we have posted an update to providers that can offer rapid PCR Arrivals tests.
